The MGA Annual Meeting was held Saturday morning, December 6, 2025 with complimentary Bloody Marys and breakfast sandwiches.
The 2026 slate of officers were voted in and include Eric Duncan, President, Doug Puvogel, Vice President, Brian Hinkel, Secretary/Treasurer, Jerry Boerger, Tournament Director and Jon Utterback, Communications Director.
Brian reviewed our financial results, explaining how the MGA has elected to gradually return a very large surplus from several years ago to the members in the form of better prizes, Ryder Cup and Annual Banquet meals, and subsidizing the GHIN fees for all golfers who sign up by March 1 each year. We have now reached a point where we have a relatively balanced budget, but the Board has elected to raise the annual MGA dues for Achasta members to $75/year, largely due to increased costs for food and beverages. We will continue to subsidize the GHIN fees and will closely monitor spending for our different events. Fees for non-Achasta members will remain at $350/year.
Eric explained a significant change in the format of the MGA Player of the Year which is intended to increase interest in the Play-In Tournament and the MGA Cup. For the 2026 season, MGA members will be competing for two different awards. The MGA Player of the Year will be the highest point scorer from the season tournaments and the MGA Cup Champion will be the winner of the two-day Top 20 MGA Cup at the end of the year. The MGA Cup will be a net score tournament in which all Top 20 (and ties) players will compete evenly in the tournament. This follows the current PGA model for Player of the Year and the FedExCup.
Our tournament plans are to keep the 2025 tournaments in place, although that may be adjusted based on member feedback. The 2026 schedule can be found on the MGA Tournaments page of this website.
